NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Notice is hereby given that the Oconto County Land and Water Resources Committee of the Oconto County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing to solicit comments on proposed text amendments to the Oconto County Recycling Ordinance on October 12, 2026, beginning at 9:00 AM or immediately following Rezone Public Hearings at Oconto County Courthouse, 301 Washington St., Oconto, Building A, Third Floor, Room 3041, WI 54153.
The Oconto County Recycling Ordinance contains recycling requirements that must be in place under ch. NR 544, Wis Admin. Code, to have an effective recycling program as required by s. 287.11, Wis Stats. The WI Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) has revised the administrative code that oversees Responsible Units effective recycling programs and other aspects of Wisconsin’s recycling law.
The proposed regulations and text amendments thereto, are intended to clarify ordinance language pertaining to requirements for recycling educational materials, revisions to the collection standards and to clarify recycling standards for multi-family and non-residential properties. The proposed amendments will incorporate text language consistent with the model WDNR Responsible Unit Recycling Ordinance. A copy of the proposed text amendments will be on file and open for public inspection in the office of the Oconto County Clerk for a period of two weeks prior to the public hearing and posted on the Oconto County website: www.ocontocountywi.gov
